Victory Marks A Great Start to 2015 and Second Daytona 500
Win in Last Four Years for Wiley X Drivers
The Wiley X® team of sponsored NASCAR drivers began 2015 much like it
wrapped up the last season — with a championship performance and a trip
to Victory Lane. On Sunday, February 23, 24-year-old Joey Logano, whose
star rose faster than perhaps any other driver during 2014, became the
second youngest driver in history to win the prestigious Daytona 500,
known in racing circles as the “Superbowl” of NASCAR. Not only did this
race mark Logano’s first Daytona 500 win, it makes two times in the past
four years a Wiley X driver has beaten the best of the best in this
Fellow Wiley X driver and defending Sprint Cup Champion Kevin Harvick®
battled Logano throughout, earning a respectable 2nd Place finish in the
Daytona 500. It was just a few months ago that Harvick and Logano faced each other in the Sprint Cup Final Four
championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Harvick emerged victorious. These two hot drivers began the
2015 season in fitting fashion, and find themselves sitting atop the 2015 Sprint Cup Point Standings— Logano with 47
points and Harvick with 42 — based on their performance at Daytona. Greg Biffle, also sponsored by Wiley X, earned a
Top 10 finish at Daytona.
The great start for Wiley X drivers actually began a week earlier, when
fellow sponsored driver Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag in
NASCAR’s season opening Sprint Unlimited exhibition race in Daytona
Beach. Carl Edwards, also a member of Team Wiley X, took 3rd Place in
this non-points race.
“We couldn’t ask for a better start to the racing season,” said Wiley X Co-
Owner Myles Freeman, Jr. “After the excitement of watching Joey and
Kevin battling for the championship last year, they literally picked up right
where they left off. We expect great things this year from each of our
sponsored drivers, and we’re looking forward to following their efforts
throughout the season,” added Freeman.
For 2015, Wiley X has assembled an awe-inspiring roster of sponsored drivers. In addition to perennial winners Logano,
Harvick, Kenseth and Edwards, Wiley X’s racing team includes fan favorites Greg Biffle, Ron Hornaday, Justin Allgaier, Joe
Nemechek, John Hunter Nemechek, David Ragan and Gray Gaulding.
