September 2009

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I was in a motorcycle accident in April, 2009. I was wearing an open-face helmet with prescription Wiley X Brick protective glasses when a car made a left turn in front of me. I T-boned the car at 45 mph and was ejected off my bike, through its windshield, over the car, and into the intersection. The windshield of my motorcycle struck my face at the bridge of my nose. The force of the impact was absorbed by the nose-piece and frame of my glasses, deflecting the windshield up into my forehead. While it took 21 stitches to close my forehead and scalp, my eyes survived the accident thanks to the glasses deflecting the major impact. The fire department recovered my glasses, albeit in three pieces. The bottom line; I'm riding once again instead of learning to live without my eyesight. Thank you Wiley X for making such fine protective eyewear. You’ve earned another lifelong customer. Eric W., Stafford, VA

BLACK CAG-1 May 2008

On the morning of 9 May 2008 on my way to work at 04:20, I crashed my motorcycle just two blocks from the house. This crash caused me to high side the motorcycle, launching me off the bike. I landed face first on the road with my body following very shortly after sliding for an unknown distance on my hands and face. The only body damage I received is road rash on my forearms arms, bruises on my legs and shoulders. The two items that saved me from a lot of injuries are a full faced helmet and my set of Wiley X CAG-1 gloves. These short leather gloves with reinforced knuckles kept my hands from hellish road rash. Those gloves are still in great shape and completely serviceable! I only wish I had on their TAG -1 gloves and that would have protected just below my wrist from the road rash I received.

Thank you for making a great product! Those gloves are tough as nails!!!

May 2008

I would like to sincerely thank the makers of the Wiley X prescription motorcycle goggle ANSI Z87.1 CE. The XL-1’s withstood a face-down impact at the speed limit of 45 mph without splintering or breaking apart. I was wearing a helmet which protected my head and the XL-1's protected my eye area. I am also attaching a picture of the heavily scraped XL-1's. Thanks to my wife, Jackie, who was a passenger, for being able to type this email for me. Ron from Newtown, PA

P.S. I choose this particular goggle because I have a narrow face and I needed a proper fit.

XL-1 April 2008

On Saturday morning April 26, 2008 I was out for an early morning ride. I had a few rides to work and back during the week. I really felt like just riding for a few hours straight and a return home for lunch. I had just been riding for 7 or 8 miles when a dump truck towing a construction trailer with a excavator on it pulled out in front of me. I had to brake a little to give some distance while he was shifting gears to get up to the 35 to 40 mph speed limit. All of a sudden he hit a pot hole and all sorts of dirt and rocks fell off from the trailer. The next thing I knew it was just like someone had shot into the right lens of my XL-1’s with a bb or pellet gun. I was doing about 35 mph at the time. I could see on the lens that it had definitely left a mark. I was amazed the lens didn't break. When I was able to pull over and look at the lens there was a 1/4" clean cut in to the lens. I am quite sure that any other pair of glasses would have shattered. I feel lucky I don't wear cheap eye protection while riding. Thank you for making such a high quality product. Roger

AirRage June 2007

I was very fortunate to have been wearing the Polarized AirRage glasses over Memorial Day weekend when I rode with some family down to North Carolina. I was wearing them when a stone from the tire of a truck in front of me struck me in the right lens of my glasses. It was big enough to scare the hell out of me, but the glasses stayed in one piece. I have no doubt that if I was wearing my regular sunglasses, I would have been injured that day. Mike L.

XL-1 September 2006

Last week I was riding my H-D and wearing my XL-1 L.A. glasses when a branch fell out of a tree striking me across the eyes & nose. Needless to say it broke the glasses & my nose, blacking both my eyes. Without my Xl-1 glasses on I would be blind now. So thank you & keep up the good work helping us biker types be safe.
