Bringing Home the Bass

Indiana native Jacob Wheeler is a professional bass angler and fan favorite on the Major League Fishing (MLF) tour. From a young age, he started stacking his achievements, capturing top-ten finishes, angler-of-the-year, and state championship titles in junior fishing programs. He finished first place in his very first BFL division level tournament, qualifying him for the 2011 BFL All-American. There, with a wire-to-wire win, Jacob made history as the youngest angler (at just 20 years old) to win the event.

In 2012, his rookie year, Jacob dominated the competition in the FLW Outdoors Forrest Wood Cup with another wire-to-wire win, entering the record books again as the youngest angler to take home the title. Wheeler's winning ways continued, and in the 2014 season he surpassed $2,000,000.00 in tournament winnings.

In 2019, Wheeler won the MLF Bass Pro Tour Stage Seven on Table Rock Lake and the General Tire World Championship, and earned his second MLF Bass Pro Tour victory in 2020 at Stage One on Lake Eufaula. Then, in 2021, he awed fishing audiences and beyond by winning three of the seven MLF Bass Pro Tour events: Stage Two, Stage Five and Stage Six. To impressively top it all off and end 2021 with a bang (drum roll, please), Wheeler captured the coveted title of MLF Bass Pro Tour Angler of the Year. In 2022 he went back-to-back, winning Bass Pro Tour Angler of the Year again.

While bass fishing is Jacob’s passion, his biggest love is his family. Jacob and his wife, Alicia, married in 2017 and are the proud parents to daughter, Olivia, and son, Hudson. Helping to hold down the Wheeler fort, the family’s chocolate lab, Bradley, is never far from the action. Find Bradley on Instagram! @TheLabOnTheLake

Eager to share his love for the sport of fishing, Jacob created the Wheeler Fishing Foundation to help college students rise up within the ranks of competitive bass fishing. The foundation hosts a variety of tournaments and events with no entry fee, helping to ease the financial burden of expensive entry fees and equipment costs for students with limited disposable income.
